The Ministry of Labour Relations & Workplace Safety kicks off day two of WCB’s Compensation Institute. As a WorkSafe partner and committed to the goal of Mission: Zero, the ministry is moving forward with a number of initiatives and proposed legislative changes to the Occupational Health and Safety Act to help our province achieve this goal.

Terry Boygo, Director of Planning & Strategic Services from WorkSafe BC explains some of the challenges and opportunities that Canada’s changing population creates for Saskatchewan workers and employers.

Keynote luncheon speaker Meranda Yonge shares how her life changed forever when the quad she was driving rolled. Yonge suffered traumatic chest injuries and debilitating nerve damage. After a year of numerous surgeries and ongoing physical rehabilitation, Yonge engages audiences with her message of how to decide what’s truly important in life.

"Our goal for Compensation Institute is to provide participants with knowledge on what we do and how we do it in order to make their interactions with the WCB as easy as possible." says Peter Federko, CEO of the WCB. "In addition, the more knowledge our partners have about prevention and safety programs, the closer we can get as a province to reaching Mission: Zero.

Compensation Institute is a free annual event open to anyone interested in learning about the workers’ compensation system and injury prevention. The event alternates between Regina and Saskatoon. More than 350 participants are attending this year’s event.
