Workers' compensation is a no-fault system that protects employers and workers against the result of work
injuries. The system has brought stability to the Saskatchewan workplace for the past 80 years, providing coverage
at a competitive cost and protecting workers and employers against the risks and uncertainties of litigation.
Legislation
Saskatchewan's Workers' Compensation Board is an independent body created by provincial legislation,
the Workers'
Compensation Act 1979,
General Regulations,
and
Exclusion
Regulations to administer a compensation system on behalf of workers and employers. The WCB is financially independent of government and
special-interest groups.
In cases of injury or death arising out of, and in the course of, employment, we provide financial protection, medical benefits and rehabilitation
services to injured workers and their dependents. To cover the cost of the system, the WCB collects assessment premiums from employers and makes
appropriate payments from a common fund. To be effective, the compensation system requires cooperative partnerships among workers, employers, health
care providers and WCB administrators.
We are guided by the
Meredith Principles and our stated
vision, mission and
values.
