Fraud FAQs
Can I contact WCB anonymously if I suspect someone of fraud?
Yes. You can call our toll-free TIPs line at 1-877-595-2541.

How certain do I have to be before I report suspected fraud?
You should have some factual information to support your suspicions. A "gut feeling" alone is not a sufficient basis to report suspected fraud.

What happens after I notify WCB and report suspected fraud?
The details and circumstances are reviewed by investigators. If there is sufficient basis, the file is given priority. If an investigation supports the allegation, and suggests that sufficient evidence is available, the circumstances are reported to law enforcement officials for potential criminal prosecution.

If I provide a contact name and number, how soon can I expect to hear back after notifying WCB about suspected fraud?
Investigators will confirm receipt of your report as soon as possible. However, privacy and confidentiality may limit WCB's ability to provide specific details on the progress or ultimate results of their investigation.

How long does a typical criminal case take from beginning to end?
Some cases may be completed in a matter of months, while others may take over a year from first notification to conviction, depending on the circumstances and the amount of accurate detail provided when you notify WCB.
