2010 Safe Employer Award Winner
Congratulations to Magna Electric Corporation (MEC) - 2010 Safe Employer Award Winner. In 2009, MEC achieved 226,915 hours without any incidents and has operated safely in Saskatchewan for over 20 years with no time loss injuries.
This safety record is a result of management's unwavering dedication to workplace safety, and an honest belief in the company's safety slogan: "Safety takes you home."
With nearly 30 years of providing power system solutions to customers throughout North America, Magna Electric is a leading electrical service provider. The company regularly works with high voltage power systems, and while that is dangerous enough, adapting to their customers' work environments is even more challenging.
MEC is steadfast in following the new CSA Z462 Safety Standard to ensure safe work practices and protection of workers around energized electrical equipment. "We've taken our electrical safety program and shaped it around the new standards," says President Kerry Heid. "In doing so, we've created an industry-leading safety program that is being adopted by large industrial companies around North America."
"When you do what we do for a living, and your safety record is what it is, that says a lot about the professionalism of our workers," says Heid. "This award is really about all the people on our teams that are buying into our safety program 100 per cent and applying it out in the field every single day."
