Regina – A former equipment operator was sentenced today in Regina Provincial Court for defrauding the WCB of $80,000.00.

The former claimant pled guilty to going back to work while still receiving income replacement. He was sentenced to a two year less a day Conditional Sentence Order. He is to adhere to a curfew of 11pm to 6am for the first six months. A Restitution Order and victim’s surcharge were also imposed.

The WCB has a responsibility to safeguard the workers’ compensation system. It relies on workers, employers, and caregivers to accurately report injuries, employment activities, payroll, and medical treatment.
