Description

Operational Details
Service clubs include the Kiwanis, Elks Club, Royal Purple, Lions Club, Free Masons, Shriners, Stars of the East, Loyal Order of Moose, Royal Canadian Legion, and so on.

While private clubs often only operate for the benefit of their members, the clubs that are service organizations are community minded. They have a strong outreach to selected members of the general public. It may include offering scholarships to the underprivileged, run camps for children, provide fund raisers for children with disabilities, cancer society, amputees, etc.

For the most part, service clubs are operated by elected officials and are operated by volunteers. Some may not have any paid staff at all. Others may have a business manager or secretary-treasurer. In the case of a legion, there may be in-house staff who offer beverage and meal services.

Often sponsorship means providing the funding and lending their name, log, or volunteers to assist in a project or event.
