Maximum wage rate annual adjustments
- Increases to the maximum wage rates are calculated using Saskatchewan’s average weekly wage (AWW) published by Statistics Canada.
- For injuries sustained prior to January 1, 2014, the maximum wage rate is increased annually in accordance with the percentage increase in the AWW.
- WCB will calculate the percentage increase using the following formula:
- If the average weekly wage for the current year is less than the average weekly wage for the previous year, there will be no adjustment.
- For injuries sustained on or after January 1, 2014, the maximum wage rate will be increased annually to equal 165 per cent of the AWW.
- The adjusted maximum wage rates will be rounded to the nearest dollar.
Benefits and annual review adjustments
- A worker’s wage loss benefits at the commencement of loss will be based on the worker’s gross earnings prior to the commencement of loss of earnings (POL 35/2024, Establishing Initial Wage Base) and will not exceed the maximum wage rate in effect when the injury occurred.
- Workers with an injury date prior to January 1, 2014, will not qualify for the 2025 maximum of $73,431 until their anniversary date of commencement of loss.
- Workers with an injury date on or after January 1, 2014 will not qualify for the 2025 maximum of $104,531 until their anniversary date of commencement of loss.
- When calculating average weekly earnings for recurrent injuries that were initially sustained prior to January 1, 2014, the earnings will be subject to the maximum wage rate in effect in the year the original injury was sustained.
