Taking action on this vision requires us to stay current on the societal and technological trends affecting the nature of work and workplace injury. We know that we must be flexible and agile enough as an organization to adapt our operations accordingly, so that we can effectively address and minimize disability in the workplace.

Innovating as an organization has been the main objective of our Business Transformation Program, a multi-year initiative aiming to align the planning and delivery of WCB services with our strategic plan. As we have implemented and tested new processes and systems through this program over the last two years, our staff and customers have provided extensive and valuable feedback on our progress, which has shaped our efforts to optimize our processes, systems, technologies and solutions.

This spirit of being open to change also guides the annual rigorous review of the WCB’s strategic and operational plans. At our 2023 annual strategic planning meeting, we considered ways to enhance the way we deliver services to our customers. Our deliberations identified a need to update and simplify our mission statement and values in order to better reflect our inherent purpose and the work we do in current times.

We would like to introduce to you the Saskatchewan WCB’s new mission and vision:

Mission: Protect Saskatchewan workers and businesses today and tomorrow through innovative and effective programs and services.

Values:

  • Safety: We relentlessly pursue the health and safety of all current and future workers in Saskatchewan.
  • Respect: We recognize the value and worth of every individual and we treat all persons fairly and with dignity, valuing individual uniqueness, diversity and contributions.
  • Excellence: We continuously seek improvement and innovation in how we carry out our work.
  • Collaboration: We work hand-in-hand with our customers, partners and each other to meet evolving needs.

Our new mission and values are a vital reminder of our primary purpose, guiding wisdom for how we can operate, and a call to action that inspires us to achieve our goals in the right way. They encourage us to continue innovating, so that we can consistently provide the right solutions and deliver the best service to our customers. If you have any questions about our new mission and vision, please contact us at askWCB@wcbsask.com.

Guided by our new mission and values, we are better positioned to move into the future of workers compensation as a modern, responsive and efficient organization where our customers can more easily self-serve and interact with the WCB, and where we can make a meaningful impact on mitigating workplace disability.
