Description

Operational Details
Venetian blind stores sell a variety of vinyl, fabric covered, and metal blinds that are either vertical, or horizontal. For the most part, the blinds are received from the factory outlets in a box and are sold over the counter to home owners. The boxes have simple instructions and the hardware is usually included. Blinds come in standard measurements, however, when custom blinds are required, the store employee will cut the blind to size, or assemble a product that meets the customer’s needs.

Hand and power tools such as a band saw and table saw are used to make the necessary cuts to reduce the blind size. Special mounting brackets may be needed and occasionally some component parts may require soldering or glue. If a blind is too short, or too long, the shop deletes or adds the necessary slats to make the proper length. This is usually a process of sliding out, or in, the necessary slates into the assembled blind.

Installation includes measuring a customer’s windows, ensuring the blinds are accurately cut or assembled to meet the requirements, then returning to the customer’s residence or place of business and installing the blinds. A service van is used to haul the blinds, ladder, hand and power tools that are required in the installation process. Incidentally, some drapery materials and other window coverings may be sold, but the primary focus of the business is the sale of venetian blinds.
