Operational Details
Alarm system operations consists of designing or laying out plans for building and perimeter security. Low voltage wire is laid or attached to stationary objects such as walls, ceilings, floors, railings, fences, etc. Sensors are connected by wire with visual and audible alarm controls that are set off if a protected area is encroached upon.

X-ray installation and maintenance involves assembling the x-ray equipment on site, making the electrical connections, and commissioning the equipment. Assembly of equipment on site is a major function, rather than running wire or installing control and monitoring devices. X-ray equipment is set up, using normal house current or 220 wiring. It may also be wired to a back up generator unit, used in hospitals in case of emergency.

Instrumentation systems operations include running of low voltage wiring, installing, repairing, maintaining of instrumentation devices, control panels, consoles and piping. Calibration of instruments is also important. Most often, the systems contractor is responsible for the commissioning of the equipment. Warranty service includes trouble shooting and replacing any defective parts. Service contracts are an important function in this industry and monitoring of electronic, as well as pneumatic and hydraulic (mechanical) control systems, is common.

Instrumentation includes measuring and control devices that measure production, monitor volumes, pressures, atmospheric conditions, etc. Digital and computer technology has allowed firms to control a variety of mechanized and electronic functions through automatic or remote controls. Major uses of instrumentation are in manufacturing, mining, forest industry, material handling, agricultural industry, etc.
