Car wash businesses may operate the more traditional car wash that runs the vehicle through a chamber, using a chain or cable to pull the vehicle through. The car is sprayed with jets of water and cleaned by rotating brushes that conform to the outline of the car as it passes by. Once completed, car wash personnel dry off the vehicle, using wiping rags and towels and may apply wax, vacuum and clean the inside of the vehicle.

The second type is the automatic car wash that requires the vehicle’s operator to remain in the vehicle. The mobile washing assembly travels back and forth the length of the vehicle, performing the same task as the conventional car wash.

A third type is the car wash where the vehicle operator washes the car by using a hand held water sprayer or wand, vacuuming may also be done. These are coin-operated and require little maintenance on behalf of the owner, save emptying out trash barrels and hosing down the floor of the facility that usually has canvas or vinyl sheets separating the wash bays.

Vehicle shampooing and beautifying is a service often supplied to owners of vehicles, or dealerships whose vehicle(s) are expensive and have leather upholstery. Cleanups can include washing and cleaning tires, head liners, floors and upholstery. Cleaning salt, gravel and tar on the outside, or underneath may also be done, using a high pressure water jet or hose.

The window tinting referred to in this industry refers to a layer of film that is placed over an untinted window, and then cut to size. It may also be applied, using a sprayed paint like material. Some incidental detailing, and installing racing stripes or decals may also be undertaken.
