Description

Operational Details
Commercial parking lots with, or without auto servicing, compete for the same business. One type of lot has the operator charging a flat fee when entering and refunding, or charging the balance when the vehicles is taken out of the lot. Another type is where the customer places coins in a machine and a receipt is issued, it is then placed on the dashboard of the vehicle. If one is not present a ticket may result.

Auto servicing can refer to customers leaving their vehicle at the parking lot entrance and a car jockey driving it to a pre-arranged spot, and is brought back to the customer when they return. Incidental services may also include washing the vehicle for an additional charge, or cleaning its interior.

Weigh Scale Operations are similar to government weigh scales, but exist as a service to the trucking industry. On the side of highways weigh scale facilities are built, A read out monitor is installed in a small building that has an approach and departure adjacent to the highway. Trucks are driven over a weigh scale and the weigh scale operator places a weigh ticket into the print out machine and a record is printed confirming the date, time and weight of the vehicle. The service is to provide trucking employers with protection against having their drivers hauling loads over highway weight limits. A fee is charged each time this service is used. If the vehicle is over weight, adjustments must be made, or a fine can be levied if stopped by provincial authorities.
