Operational Details
Trailer sales and service employers may sell mobile homes, motor homes, holiday trailers, tent trailers etc. Servicing involves repairing furnaces, stoves, 2-3 way fridges, showers and toilet assemblies, electrical wiring and structural defects, including the adjusting of doors and fixing sticky window slides. Some motor work may be done on motor homes and camper trucks, however, the vast majority is non-mechanical. Employers hire sales staff, general repair workers and an electrician or someone who has plumbing and electrical expertise.

The trailer sales inventories are either brought in by rail or by truck. An employer may be a franchise dealer for one of the major brands, or may sell used models. Mobile home dealers may also incidentally sell holiday trailers. Holiday trailer sales may also include the incidental sale of used mobile homes. However, the cross-over is a result of trade-ins and in some cases, vehicles and utility trailers may also be included.

Mobile home sales may include delivering the product to the customer. This means using their own truck, or hiring a transport firm to deliver the trailer to the site. Incidentally, a mobile home dealer may set the trailer up on the site, and occasionally skirt the trailer with insulation and plywood.

Industrial trailer sales include the sale of: flat beds, low boys, high boys, and utility trailers. The trailer is usually ordered from the manufacturer once a sale has been made. For this reason low inventories are kept on hand.
