Description

Operational Details
This is primarily a labour service to the oil and gas industry. It covers the day to day routine maintenance of wellhead pumping and gas compressor stations. Duties vary with the type of facility being looked after. A majority of the operators look after both the wellhead and battery.

Duties that are common include: taking pressure and flow readings of an oil well. Ensuring equipment is properly running so that production is not stopped or reduced. Reading of meters, looking for leaks, taking of samples on the levels of gas, oil, water and chemicals of a treater, that purifies the oil or gas.

Measuring pressure and water capacities are often needed to ensure there is sufficient room to hold the amount of exigible water coming from a treater unit.

Battery tank operations include checking the pressure, storage capacity available, and levels in the storage tanks containing the oil that has been transported from the wellhead, usually at the same facility. The major job for employers in this industry is top monitor production levels. If major repairs are required, they are empowered to hire an oilfield maintenance company to make the repairs. However, daily routine or housekeeping maintenance may be carried out by the operators who perform small tasks such as wiping up oil spills, tightening a screw, tightening bolts, etc.
