Description

Operational Details
Well services is an essential service to producing oil or gas wells.

Service rigs are truck mounted, single mast, pieces of equipment that are used to replace downhole pumps, replace broken sucker rods, corroded casings, plugged screens, etc.

Service rigs are smaller and mobile versions of the larger stationary drilling rig. However, instead of being involved in the exploration and drilling program, it is a service that takes place once the well has been put into production. Remedial work is the specialty of a service rig. It would not be economically feasible to erect a large stationary rig for remedial work.

A service rig operator or employee drives the service rig to the wellsite and he, and/or his helpers, who are comprised of a derrick hand and possibly two float hands assist in the setting up the rig and execute whatever procedures area necessary to clear the well or remedy the situation for which they were called.

Service rig operations include repairing and servicing their own equipment.
