Description

Operational Details
Conservation boards and associations act on behalf of the community in the management and protection of water resources. Local groups are set up, usually farmers, and perhaps a representative from the municipality, to develop strategies and plans on how to deal with marsh lands and spring run-off. Land reclamation and conservation are the main focus. Boards may hire subcontractors to dig ditches, trenches, install culverts, perform snow removal from the ditches in the winter, mowing and cleaning out culverts, etc.
Exhibition boards operate in the best interest of the community, hosting and delivering local, regional, national, and international events. Exhibition boards develop, operate and maintain facilities providing hospitality for trade, agri-business, sporting, entertainment and cultural events that bring innovation, enrichment and prosperity to the community. Exhibition boards are not-for-profit corporations owned by the city, however, they operate separately and are governed by a Board of Directors.
Agricultural societies are not-for-profit groups that are run by an elected Board of Directors. This society operates in the best interest of the community hosting events such as fairs, 4-H events and rodeos. Agricultural societies focus on agricultural education and support for youth and the community.
