Tutors are normally teachers, although a teaching certificate is not a prerequisite in all cases. Tutors provide individual instruction to students in a variety of academic subjects tailored to the student's needs. Tutoring services are available at the elementary, junior, senior and university levels.

Employers in this classification may provide services in a learning centre environment and/or on-line at their client's location.
